There are those who would connect with the world of the spirit or the paranormal with ease and those who would grimace in disbelief at the word occult. My only concern is when people treat tarot as a means ofpredicting the events that concern their lives and don't go beyond andlook for a deeper meaning to it!

Tarot indeed is a tool for divination which gives us the most preferred path to choose and how to achieve our goals. It is more of a behavioural science where our destined goal is nothing but related to the choices we make.

People think that tarot is a means to let them have a preview into their future, but, that is so not the case. Each card in the tarot provides a guideline towards self improvement and to help us understand the forces that are acting upon us at a particular time or for aparticular situation.

This is why, it is necessary to pick up a deck with care, if and when, we want to learn the art of reading the cards.

There are hundreds and thousands of decks doing the rounds and most people come up with the question as to which deck is the best. Well, I dont have any preconceived notion as to any particular deck that should be used for a beginner and I dont even subscribe to the view that a tarot deck should be gifted, that at least, the first one must be a gift to the reader. These are superstitions I can do without!

It's great to get gifts, who doesn;t want them? And why only tarot? But then don't wait for someone to present you with a tarot deck to start learning to read them!

I myself own more than 40 decks, Tarot , Oracles and Angel Guidance board included! Some of them of these decks are gifts. 5 were gifted to me out of the blue and I have to thank the universal energies for it. They came to me through some lady who I don't know and have never met. The lady called me through an advertisement I had placed in the papers and I got the decks in return for my advice to her over the phone! God bless her soul. Mother and daughter, I am not able to get through to them to thank them again.

On my birthday recently(2006), a friend gifted me Messages From Angel Oracles. I felt as if the angels of the universe have come to my doorstep to  bless me !

Then again I was gifted *Messages From the Fairies(2008).

I've burned 2 sets and thrown one for not clearing the energies they had gathered and this hampered my readings with confusing results!

Choosing the Right Deck.

1. When choosing the deck, it is of prime importance that you connect with the deck more than anything. If you vibe well with your cards, you will be the best reader in town! Believe me!

2. The traditional Tarot deck is a good one to start learning with as it does not stray from the meanings that were used since ages. These cards would be 78 in number.

3. You could start divination with a set of playing cards as well, but these cards should be used for the purpose of divination only and not for gambling or playing games.

4. It is better to start with a deck that has images for the minor arcana rather than just pictures of the suit they represent. This makes it easy for the beginner to connect with the symbols.

Taking Care Of Your Deck

Cards have their own energies

1. Keeping your deck wrapped in silk cloth or cotton cloth will clear the confusing energies the cards pick up from readings. Keep a crystal over the covered cards when not in use. You can show incense to the cards so as to clear the vibrations of the cards and prepare them for areading.

2. *I* do not advice Osho Tarot Deck for those who want to predict or forecast an outcome for their questions. Osho Cards are beautifully designed and they  concentrate on the aspect of spiritual developmentof the person. So if you are at a stage when you want to enhance yourspiritual being, this is the set for you.

(One of the decks I have burned was Osho Zen Tarot Set since 4 of my cards were missing and one of them was the harmony card. I just decided then that I dint want anything without harmony in it)

3. Separating the cards and keeping them in their suits, for example, all wands together, all swords together, etc.....and letting them be like that in a space untouched also recharges their energies.

4. Smearing smoke from sage leaves or other incense also clears left over energies from readings. Also, adjusting the deck back in order and keeping them in a wooden box would help retain their power.

Happy Reading!
